What inspired me to make modern heirlooms?

The day the inspiration began.

Grace and Stacey

My story

It all began as I was preparing and planning for my own wedding. I had an idea to use my mother’s wedding gown as my wedding rehearsal dress. My color was light blue, so I borrowed my mom’s wedding gown and embellished it with a blue satin sash that went around my waist.

Fast forward to my daughter Grace’s wedding. As we began to plan her wedding she was inspired to incorporate my vintage wedding gown into her special day. Wearing my gown really was not an option, but we did come up with a great idea to upcycle my gown into her Bridal Robe that she would wear on the morning of her wedding day. We also created a Bouquet Wrap using lace, “something borrowed” and “something blue” from both of her grandmothers.

Making Modern Heirlooms

As friends and family saw the results of turning my vintage wedding gown into a beautiful Bridal Robe I began receiving requests to create modern heirlooms for their special day.

What started out as a gift from me to Grace has made me realize that others desire to bless their loved ones with a treasured memory. It’s because of Grace’s encouragement that I launched Sew Grace Inspired. I look forward to helping you take yesterday’s memories and transform them into modern heirlooms.

“Stacey was able to make two robes, one for each of my daughters, a clutch purse and three Christmas Ornaments. We were so happy with our experience.”
